103-Year-Old Fan Makes 7 Hour, 350 Mile Round Trip To Watch His Side - FootyNews.co.uk

Ladies and gentlemen, meet Sheffield Wednesday’s biggest fan Jesse Webb, who is living proof that you’re never too old for an away day.

Webb attended his first game at Hillsborough in 1923 and has since supported his boyhood club through thick and thin.

Last weekend, the veteran was in attendance at Portman Road to watch his side beat Ipswich in a tight affair, but the 103-year-old came away from the ground with a huge smile on his face after Lucas Joao’s late strike.

Before and after the game, opponents Ipswich kindly welcomed him into their hospitality lounges to watch the game.

I LOVE THIS GAME!

Many on social media paid their respects to Jesse, who travelled the seven hour, 350 mile journey to Portman Road to watch his side play.

One Twitter user said: “That is what l call a real football fan.” while another commented: “That’s dedication for you. Well done young man.”

He wasn’t short of fans in the ground, as well.

In other news, another one of football’s oldest season ticket holders, Mabel Arnold, has sadly passed away at the age of 102.

Arnold wasn’t just your average West Ham supporter. When asked about her 100th birthday celebrations, she replied “”I’d rather have three points than a telegram from HM The Queen!”.

Now that is dedication.

At the age of 102, Mabel was certainly one of West Ham‘s oldest supporters but what made her affiliation with the club special is the fact she spent 84 consecutive years as a season ticket holder.

The chant “We’ve got Arnold – Mabel Arnold, I just don’t think you understand” rang out at the Boleyn Ground on her 100th birthday as the Hammers recorded a 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace.

It was a special moment.

Mabel was even pictured with West Ham goalkeeper Adrian, who himself was celebrating his 100th appearance for the club.

Respect to the older generation who travel hundreds of miles to watch their beloved team.

You’re never too old for an away day, folks!
