Alisson Boasts A Very Worrying Premier League Statistic
With 13 clean sheets in the Premier League so far, Alisson Becker has been integral to Liverpool topping the table.
In December, he made a huge save in the 92nd minute against Napoli to ensure Liverpool qualified for the Champions League round of 16 and Jurgen Klopp reacted hilariously during an interview with Jamie Carragher for Danish TV.
But it’s fair to say the Brazilian hasn’t had a great start to 2019. As per Squawka, the West Ham equaliser scored by Michail Antonio was the seventh goal conceded from 11 shots Alisson has faced so far this year.
What’s more, he has the lowest save-percentage of all 20 goalkeepers to have made at least three appearances in the Premier League in 2019.
There’s no denying that he’s a world-class goalkeeper who has justified the record £67 million splashed out to snap him up from Roma, but it is definitely a cause for concern.
Last month Alisson expressed his sympathy for Loris Karius, the man he replaced, after seeing his Champions League horror show in Kiev.
In an interview with Four Four Two, he said he felt bad watching his struggles against Real – given he’s a member of the goalkeeper’s union.
“Even when my team scores after a big mistake from the opposition keeper, it’s a different feeling for me. I don’t celebrate it like any other goal,” the 26-year old admitted.
“I know what goes through the mind of a goalkeeper in those kind of moments. I was so sad to see what happened to Karius – it could have happened to anyone.”
Does Alisson deserve criticism?
