Barcelona 'Open Talks' For Neymar Return, With Dembele Part Of Deal
Neymar has long been linked with a return to Barcelona ever since he swapped Spain for France in a world-record £197 million move two seasons ago.
But now Gerard Romero from RAC1 is saying the Blaugrana are in talks with PSG to bring the Brazilian back to the Nou Camp and Ousmane Dembele, the man who Barca effectively bought to replace Neymar, could be used in the deal.
Neymar’s move to PSG came out of nowhere in 2017 and the former Santos starlet has since gone on to lift back-to-back Ligue One titles as well as the Coupe de la Ligue and Coupe de France.
He’s scored 51 in 58 games in all competitions for the Parisiens but hasn’t quite been able to get onto the level of Lionel Messi, which was said to be one of the key reasons in him swapping Barcelona for PSG.
Dembele, meanwhile, was signed for £97 million but has struggled with injuries coupled with attitude issues in Catalonia, with a return to France potentially doing him the world of good.
It is noted, however, that the two clubs aren’t exactly on good terms and any deal is expected to be a complex one that won’t be done in easy fashion.
In March, Barca’s president Josep Maria Bartomeu stated that he preferred Barca’s current No.11 rather than the man who wore the number with distinction before him.
“Dembele is, for me, better than Neymar,” Bartomeu told SER Catalunya, via ESPN.
“He’s at Barca and he is better. We are really happy with him.”
