Bayern Munich Eye Up Move For £105 Million Real Madrid Star
For the last seven years Bayern Munich have at very least reached the quarter finals of the Champions League, only once not getting to at least the semi finals, whilst they’ve also won the Bundesliga for the past six seasons.
This year Bayern look less likely than in the previous years of dominance to win the league, although it’s still possible after Borussia Dortmund‘s recent drop in form, and they face a tough task against Liverpool in the Champions League.
Their dominance certainly seems to have gone a little and with a partially ageing squad they’re looking refresh it, especially in attacking areas.
With Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery coming towards the end of their careers it was no surprise to find Niko Kovac’s side so desperate to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea in January.
As the deal for the teenager didn’t happen the Germans are now set to try elsewhere. According to Spanish paper Don Balon, Bayern are ready to move for Real Madrid‘s £105 million rated Marco Asensio.
Asensio’s transfer release clause is reported to be €700 million and Los Blancos club president Florentino Perez doesn’t really want to sell young Spanish players but Bayern could still make a deal happen.
The 23 year old has found playing time limited under current boss Santiago Solari and the former Mallorca midfielder is reportedly fed up with his lack of minutes.
Asensio’s relationship with the manager has also reportedly deteriorated, so it could also depend whether Solari is to remain in charge at the Bernabeu next season or not.
Real’s desire to sign Eden Hazard, and whether they are able to with Chelsea‘s transfer ban, could also impact whether they sell Asensio as well.
Bayern could also return for Hudson-Odoi bringing the whole saga nicely back round in a circle, who doesn’t love a bit of narrative.
Whether they manage to win the Bundesliga title or not it’s certain that Bayern will be refreshing their attack and making it younger.
Is Asensio the man to take them into the new era?
