Football is a cruel business.
The tragic disappearance of Emiliano Sala has taken an unsavoury turn and it’s regarding his former club Bordeaux.
However, Cardiff have reportedly cancelled the first installment of £5 million.
But reports claim Bordeaux have requested their percentage of the initial payment according to AS.
Of course, Cardiff agreed a £15 million deal with Nantes for Sala. The Welsh outfit are now exploring their legal rights amid a difficult financial situation.
Nantes president Waldemar Kita, who made a personal donation to Sala’s family fund, insists the club are focused on the search for their ex-striker as well as the pilot, Dave Ibbotson.
“I do not want to talk about money while this dramatic situation is ongoing,” he said. “At the moment we are not looking into any kind of claim. We’ll see at a later date.”
Meanwhile, Guernsey Police called off their search and rescue for Sala and Dave Ibbotson though a new private search will be conducted after a generous donation.
Through fundraising platform Go Fund Me, players from around the world have been making contributions for the #NoDejenDeBuscar campaign, which translates to ‘do not stop searching’.
It’s raised over £250,000.
The fundraiser was started by Sport Cover – a sports management company founded by Sala’s agent Meissa N’Diaye – which gave a €20,000 donation.
