Chelsea Legend Didier Drogba Names His Dream Five-A-Side Team
Didier Drogba has revealed his dream five-a-side team, but he has raised some eyebrows with football fans over one of his choices.
Speaking ahead of the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday (via Sky Sports), the 40-year-old Chelsea legend was asked who would feature in his ‘all-star’ football team.
Being the humble man that he is, the former Blues striker kept himself out of the team and decided to act as the manager.
So, which players did Drogba pick?
Well, the former Ivory Coast international went with former Chelsea teammate Petr Čech as his number one.
Drogba isn’t about that defending business, so he hasn’t picked anyone to offer the 36-year-old Czech ‘keeper some form of protection (best of luck with that one, Čech).
There is only one midfielder in the team, with the former Marseille and Galatasaray player picking Frank Lampard.
It’s not surprising that Drogba picked his fellow Chelsea legend for his team, especially as he named him as his favourite teammate during his time at the club.
The final choice for his team is none other than Peter Crouch. Yes, the 38-year-old Burnley striker is one of the men leading his line.
Of course, there’s nothing wrong with Crouch, but out of every player he could have chosen from, it’s unsurprising that many fans have been left scratching their heads at his choice.
Drogba announced his retirement from football last year, closing the curtain on “an amazing 20 years.”
