AC Milan star Franck Kessie is wanted by both Arsenal and Tottenham, according to reports in Italy.
The central midfielder has been tipped for a Premier League move after impressing in Serie A.
In 2020/21, he scored 13 times for Milan as they finished runners-up in the league behind Inter.
According to Italian outlet Tuttosport (via ESPN), Arsenal want to hijack Tottenham’s move for Kessie.
They’ve expressed an interest in the 24-year-old and will offer him €6million-a-year to join.
The Gunners view Kessie as an ideal replacement for Granit Xhaka, who looks certain to leave this summer.
Kessie’s agent, Massimo Brambati, has previously revealed his player’s desire for a new challenge.
When asked about the transfer rumours recently, Brambati said: “Now Kessie is the one who holds the knife by the handle. He can decide what is best for him rather than the club.
“I know that in addition to Inter there are two Premier League teams interested in him, including Tottenham.”
Tuttosport claim the other team is Arsenal, which could set up an exciting transfer race in the coming weeks.
Spurs will put up fierce competition as they look to bolster their squad.
Having confirmed the appointment of Nuno Espirito Santo on Wednesday, they will now begin submitting offers for players.
Kessie could become a midfield partner for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. His goalscoring prowess would help to lessen the burden on Harry Kane, should the club keep their talisman from the clutches of Manchester City.
Spurs are in a similar position to their north London rivals as Harry Winks could soon be on the move.
Having previously been targeted by clubs in La Liga, the midfielder appears to be wanted by Manchester United.
Kessie would add plenty of quality to Nuno’s team, helping them to pursue their dream of regaining Champions League football.
His price tag at Milan is not currently known, although his agent’s comments suggest the Italian giants might be willing to sell.
