Andreas Pereira delivered a timely reminder of his abilities during Manchester United‘s 2-2 pre-season friendly draw with Brentford.
Pereira established himself in the United side at the start of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tenure, winning their Goal of the Season award in 2018-19.
He then fell down the pecking order following Bruno Fernandes’ arrival in January 2020-21, spending the 2020-21 season on loan at Lazio.
The midfielder started just five games for the Serie A side and has been linked with a permanent move away from Old Trafford this summer.
“I’ve spoken to [Ole Gunnar] Solskjaer to find out my future and he said we need to talk,” Pereira said in June 2021. “I just want to play because I am still hoping for a call-up from Brazil for the World Cup in Qatar.”
The 25-year-old is currently still on the books at United and was named in the starting line-up for their latest friendly against Brentford.
After Anthony Elanga gave United an early lead with a brilliant volley, Shandon Baptiste scored an equally impressive goal for the away side.
Pereira then produced a Paul Scholes impression in the second half, scoring with an unbelievable volley that cannoned in off the crossbar.
