Latest On Youri Tielemans, Samaris and Cahill

Tottenham’s New Belgian Midfielder?

Tottenham are interested in Monaco midfielder Youri Tielemans. The Belgian has been attracting interest from Leicester, who have been trying to sign him on loan. However, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is keen on the move. As a result, he is hoping Mauricio Pochettino will also be interested.

Tielemans joined Monaco in 2017 in a £25 million move. He has since made 47 appearances for the French side, scoring five goals. The midfielder also has 14 caps for Belgium and was apart of the 2018 World Cup squad.

Samaris to Join Newcastle United?

Newcastle United are in talks with Benfica to sign midfielder Andreas Samaris. It is reported it is only a loan deal for the 29-year old.

Samaris has fallen out of favour at Benfica, having made just four appearances this season. He has been with the Portuguese side since 2014 after joining from Olympiacos. The midfielder also has 33 caps for his native Greece.

Samaris may not be the only incoming at St James’ Park this window. Rafa Benitez is keen to sign a left-back after a move for Jordan Lukaku fell through. Monaco defender Antonio Barreca has been identified as a target.

Cahill to Bolster Arsenal’s Defence?

Gary Cahill is on Unai Emery’s radar as a possible loan signing. Cahill has been linked with relegation-threatened Fulham and also Crystal Palace. However, he could join Arsenal to bolster their injured defence.

The Gunners suffered yet another injury to their defence in their 3-1 defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup. Both Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Laurent Koscielny picked up injuries. This just leaves Shkrodan Mustafi as their only fit centre-back. Therefore, a short-term loan deal for Cahill could benefit Arsenal.
