Jurgen Klopp watched his Liverpool team go top of the Premier League table with their 0-0 draw against Manchester United on Sunday but he made sure that everyone knew he didn’t actually enjoy the match.

Going into the game between Manchester United and Liverpool, on Sunday afternoon, Jurgen Klopp knew that any point would take his side top of the table having played the same amount of games as Manchester City.

Midway through the games the Liverpool manager would have been expecting his side to come away with all three points. The visitors were the better side in the first 45 minutes at Old Trafford and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had been forced into making three substitutions.

The first period saw Ander Herrera and Juan Mata depart with Andreas Pereira and Jesse Lingard their replacements, before Lingard himself had to come off with an injury.

Marcus Rashford also picked up a knock and was hobbling from about the first minute and the Reds must have smelt the blood in the water.

However in the second half United came closer to scoring than their opponents before the game finished 0-0, with Liverpool managing just one shot on target.

After the game Klopp went to shake Solskjaer’s hand and he was very honest with what he thought of the game:

It wasn’t a classic ‘north west derby’ in Klopp’s defence, although it wasn’t the worst one in recent years either. Games, especially at Anfield, had generally been awful during Jose Mourinho’s stint at United.

The game struggled to get going in the first half with all the injuries and in the second half the best chances fell to the home team from set pieces, with Chris Smalling’s offside denying United a winner.

Klopp admitted after the match he felt his team should have won, telling Sky Sports, “On days when United are beatable you have to do it.

“We played around with no speed. We expect to play better football. It is a point at United and everybody feels it could have been more.
