Dušan Tadić’s world-class performance impressed even the harshest critics after L’Équipe handed out one of its rare perfect scores.

Since it was founded in 1946, the French newspaper had only handed out eight 10/10 scores in its history, with the Ajax star rightfully taking his place as the ninth player to receive the coveted rating.

L’Équipe handed out its first perfect rating to former Sochaux ace Franck Sauzée in 1988, with only five players, including Tadić, receiving the score in the post-2000s.

Lionel Messi is the only player to ever receive a perfect score twice, with the first coming in 2010 when he scored four times against Arsenal and the second being awarded in 2012 when he scored five past Bayer Leverkusen.

Tadić was instrumental in the Eredivisie side’s success at the Santiago Bernabéu on Tuesday night, especially as Erik ten Hag’s men came into the match trailing 2-1 on an aggregate scoreline.

The 30-year-old former Southampton star assisted Hakim Ziyech to open the scoring against Real Madrid, but it was Ajax’s second within the first 20 minutes that mesmerised football fans.

Oh, yes. It was one of those special moments to remember in the Champions League history.

After he picked up the ball in the Madrid half and was surrounded by four of Los Blancos’ players, Tadić tore Casemiro apart with a deadly roulette before guiding the ball into the path of teammate David Neres.

The Serbia international rounded off his brilliant performance after he curled an absolute peach of a strike past Thibaut Courtois in the second half.

Marco Asensio pulled one back for Los Blancos, but Lasse Schöne’s superb free-kick completed Ajax’s 4-1 thrashing and knocked the reigning Champions League holders out of the competition.

While the night hit an all-time low for Madrid boss Santiago Solari when his side were reduced to ten men after Nacho was sent off, the Ajax fans had a brilliant sense of humour when they started to sing ‘Always Look on the Bright Side of Life’ at the Bernabéu.
