Liverpool Close To Completing Their First Signing Of The Summer
Liverpool are close to completing their first signing of the summer.
The Champions League winners have been linked with a host of new talent since the transfer window opened, and it appears the club are set to secure the signing of Sepp van den Berg.
The 17-year-old has attracted interest from Europe’s elite teams after an impressive campaign for PEC Zwolle last season. He made 15 appearances in Netherlands’ top tier.
The budding defender is due to undergo a medical at Melwood ahead of sealing a transfer to Liverpool.
Of course, Liverpool already have a Dutch centre-back in the shape of Virgil van Dijk not to mention Ki-Jana Hoever, who signed in 2018.
Liverpool remain in the market for new signings and one player who continues to be linked with a move to Anfield is Coutinho.
As a result, his future has been subject to intense transfer speculation with the Reds reportedly interested in bringing him back to the club.
Coutinho, who’s on international duty at the Copa America, is leaving all options open regarding a potential move.
“I have a contract with Barcelona, it was always my will to succeed in this club, but now I am totally concentrated here [with Brazil] and about the future [with Barca] we do not know what will happen,” he said.
“Many things that come out in the media are simply not true but as for my future we do not know what is going to happen, that is the truth.
“Honestly, it wasn’t a good season. It didn’t produce what I wanted, it didn’t go as I hoped.
“But I hope it serves me as an example, as a lesson so that I want more, concentrate even more to be able to succeed.”
