Manchester United 'Finally Agree' To Sensational £80m Deal For Maguire
According to Bleacher Report’s Dean Jones, the Red Devils are ready to splash out a world-record fee for a defender on the Leicester City star, 26.
“United finally agreeing terms on the £80m Maguire deal,” he tweeted.
“Mad amount of money to spend on him and [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka this summer but also very necessary.”
United launched a £70m offer for the City target, but the Foxes turned down the offer as they held out for £80m.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, 46, has been keen to add the English centre-back to his ranks after the Red Devils suffered defensive issues last season.
The Premier League champions reportedly offered Maguire a £280,000-a-week contract, but United might have finally landed their marquee summer signing.
Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers, 46, admitted after his side’s pre-season victory over Scunthorpe that the club had rejected two bids for the England international.
“We don’t have to sell Harry,” the ex-Celtic and Liverpool boss told reporters.
“Harry has been absolutely brilliant about this right from the word go. He’s a top, top player and a top guy. I think it’s important the supporters know that.
“I’ve been in this situation before with players and it’s not always easy but Harry has been absolutely superb. We’ve had a chat about it, obviously.
“He’s happy and I tip my hat to him for the way he’s dealt with all this because it can be unsettling.
“I’m relaxed about it all. We understand the situation from all points of view because United and City are big clubs.
“But unless they meet our valuation he won’t be sold and it’s as simple as that.”
