Last Season

After joining from Serie A side Bologna, the Swedish international enjoyed a successful season with Amiens in Ligue 1. Last season he made 35 appearances, as Amiens consolidated the position in the top division in France by finishing 15th.

What Was Said

Newcastle manager Steve Bruce spoke to the official Newcastle website and said: “We’re pleased to bring him here.

“He turned 25 last week and has great experience, with more than 20 caps for Sweden and having played in the top flight in three different countries.”

Meanwhile, Krafth said: “It feels really good.

“It’s been a been couple of days, but I’m finally here. I’m very happy to sign for Newcastle and I can’t wait to start training with the guys.

“I know Newcastle is a big club, so I’m very happy to sign here and be here right now.

“It’s a good moment in my career to take a step forward. The plans Newcastle had for me, I feel like they was fitting for me perfectly, so that was why I chose Newcastle.”

How Will Emil Krafth  Fit in at Newcastle?

New manager Steve Bruce is looking to bring his own ideas to St James’ Park. As a result, he has identified defence as where he needs reinforcements. He is the second new arrival in defence this summer at Newcastle.

Furthermore, right-back is an area where they need to strengthen. DeAndre Yedlin is the only senior right-back currently at the club, with Jamie Sterry having made only a handful of appearances. As a result, Krafth will provide useful competition with his valuable international experience with Sweden and top-flight experience in multiple countries.
