A young Croatian football was sent off for copying Diego Simeone’s ‘cojones’ celebration in an Under 19’s game.

When his Atletico Madrid side scored the second in their in the Champions League round of 16 first leg win over Juventus, Simeone told the world that his team had cojones by pointing to his crotch.

Explaining his gesture, Simeone said: “I did it as a player at Lazio and I did it again to show our fans that we have cojones. I can only apologize if anyone was offended. It wasn’t aimed at the other team, I was turning towards our own supporters.”

But while Simeone was only fined for his celebration, over in Croatia, Hajduk Split Under 19 player Tino Blaz Laus ended up receiving his marching orders.

Having put his side 3-1 up against Hrvatski Dragovoljac, he celebrated by channeling his inner Simeone with the proactive gesture but promptly received a red card.

He wasn’t the only one to imitate Simeone, however, as Cristiano Ronaldo mimicked the Argentine’s celebration post-match after scoring a stunning second leg hat-trick to knock Atleti out once again.

The man himself took it well wasn’t bitter about it and was full of praise for the character the former Real Madrid superstar displayed.

But it looks as though the five-time Ballon d’Or winner might just have landed himself in hot water with UEFA for the gesture.

The organising body will open an inquiry into Ronaldo for his gesture towards the Atletico Madrid fans, per Gazzetta dello Sport.

“UEFA will open an inquiry into the Ronaldo gesture at the end of . He risks a fine like Simeone, but if it were considered a mocking gesture towards the opposition fans it could turn into a disqualification for a game.”
