Referee Cruelly Rules Out Brilliant Fernando Torres Goal

Referee Cruelly Rules Out Brilliant Fernando Torres Goal - FootyNews.co.uk

Fernando Torres was denied one of the best goals of his career because the referee wasn’t ready.

The legendary 35-year old striker was on the scoresheet twice in the Sagan Tosu’s 4-2 win over Shimizu S-Pulse in the Japanese top flight.

He would have had a hat-trick but for the referee not watching as the Spaniard produced a stunning strike straight from kick-off.

Torres displayed quick thinking to spot the opposition goalkeeper Yohei Nishibe off his line but he was too quick for the official’s liking and so he is now the not-so-proud owner of one of the best disallowed goals in recent history.

The former Liverpool and Chelsea striker now has six goals in 33 appearances over in the J-League but more importantly his brace took him to 300 career goals – one of the last milestone for Torres to reach in the game.

Just over a week ago Torres announced he was hanging up his boots after 18 glorious years in the game.

‘El Nino’ still has two months remaining before he calls it quits for good, with his final game fittingly coming up against his Spain teammates Andres Iniesta and Villa, who both play for Vissel Kobe.
