San Siro Expected To Be Replaced With Brand New €600 Million Stadium - FootyNews.co.uk

Built in 1926, the famous San Siro has hosted some of the all-time great games.

From four European Cup finals to six games at the 1990 World Cup, this venue is steeped in history, but this grand building will not be renovated in the future, according to reports, with demolition a real possibility.

In fact, Italian publication La Repubblica claim that Inter Milan and AC Milan are willing to proceed with a brand new, €600m stadium situated just a few hundred metres away from the San Siro.

Rossoneri are the club that are extremely keen on the idea, while Inter will make their decision known shortly.

Milan‘s president Paolo Scaroni is believed to be the one that has accelerated the idea of a new and futuristic stadium; a project that has been dubbed ‘the most innovative in Europe.’

Atlanta’s futuristic Mercedes Benz Stadium, a venue that has hosted the Super Bowl, is believed to be a role model for the new stadium.

It is believed the new stadium will have a capacity of 60,000 to meet UEFA’s minimum requirements to host finals.
