Luis Suarez seriously p*ssed off a lot of Liverpool fans for not only celebrating his goal but also shithousing his way to victory, though the Barcelona striker has made a promise ahead of his Anfield return.

The Uruguayan, who enjoyed a prolific spell at Liverpool between 2010 to 2014, scored against them in the Champions League semi-final first leg and he celebrated his strike in trademark fashion.

But if he finds the net at Anfield, he’s promised he won’t celebrate.

“People who know about football know the importance of the goal I scored in the Champions League semi-final,” Suarez said in his pre-match press conference.

“I have all the respect in the world for the Liverpool fans. Because I scored it and celebrated it with my fans, I say sorry.

“I am very thankful to Liverpool, to the fans and to the club, and obviously it’s clear that if I score a goal against Liverpool [at Anfield] I won’t celebrate it. The same way I didn’t do in Holland when I scored [for Ajax against Groningen].”

He added: “People know the work that I did here. I am thankful to the club. I think there will be more applause than whistles and I think if people want to whistle and it makes them happy… there will perhaps be quite a few that aren’t happy.

“But I think people will be more thankful and grateful. There were people in the kitchen waiting to give me a present for my children.”

Tonight’s fixture will mark Suarez’s first competitive game at Liverpool since swapping clubs in 2014.

Meanwhile, the Reds have a mountain to climb in their second leg clash with Barcelona. They trail by three-goals following defeat at Camp Nou last week.
