The Dad Of Everton Ballboy Reveals What He Said To Jurgen Klopp
It was a tense affair from start to finish as both sides played out a far from inspired 0-0 draw, and a moment after the final whistle summed up a feisty Merseyside Derby.
Footage appeared to show a ballboy having words with Klopp at the final-whistle in what looked like a tense conversation.
It has now been revealed what Charlie said to the Liverpool boss, and he didn’t hold back.
Charlie’s father, Steve, confirmed that it was a sarcastic clap that started the interaction, with the ballboy mentioning what he thought about ‘the World Cup final’ in their conversation:
“It was just a bit of banter between Charlie and Klopp at the end.” he said on Twitter.
“No threats by Klopp or Charlie. It was all good natured – what the Derby is all about. Charlie just asked him what he thought about the World Cup final.”
The World Cup reference comes after Jurgen Klopp said that the Merseyside Derby was “Everton‘s World Cup final”:
“We all know for them it’s like a World Cup final.” the German said ahead of the match.
Everton manager Marco Silva then responded to the ‘jibe’ when speaking to the media on Friday afternoon in the build up:
“They celebrated that lucky goal – that lucky moment they had in the last seconds of the match – (like it) was the final of a World Cup for us, and for them.”
Thoughts on yesterday’s Merseyside Derby? Will Liverpool go on to win the Premier League title after an unsteady few weeks at the top?
