There Are Still 6 Days Left On David Moyes' Contract At Man Utd
David Moyes still has six days left on his six year contract at Manchester United. Just let that sink in for a moment.
It was an unusually warm day in Manchester when the highly regarded Moyes was given the unenviable task of succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson in July 2013.
Expectation was naturally high after those behind the scenes at United offered him a, quite frankly, ridiculous six-year contract.
So how did he get on?
The former Everton boss struggled to put his stamp on that United side.
He signed a number of big names, including Bastian Schweinsteiger and Angel Di Maria, but six home defeats in the league, among other things, meant that his time at Old Trafford was cut short.
Moyes lasted a mere 10 months in charge at Old Trafford, with five years and two months remaining on his contract.
Since being sacked by United, the Scotsman has had three jobs, two sackings and a relegation.
He was appointed the manager of Real Sociedad, a day short of his one year anniversary at the Spanish club.
Then he was then given the reigns at Sunderland and West Ham, but those jobs didn’t exactly go to plan either.
With six days left on his original United contract, Moyes is currently without a job, although he did express his interest at taking over the Scotland national side earlier this year:
“Club football would be my choice, but Scotland’s my country and I’m really passionate,” Moyes told the BBC.
“I’ve followed Scotland to all the tournaments when I was a young man, I used to go to Wembley regularly with my dad, so I’ve got some great memories of being a Scotland supporter.”
Plenty has happened since Moyes was sacked from his role at Old Trafford, including Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho’s time at the helm.
But it still baffles me to this day that he has SIX DAYS left on his original deal.
What did the 56-year-old do wrong during his time at Manchester United?
