Turkish Club Break Transfer Record By Signing 22 Players In Two Hours
There wasn’t really too much activity on Deadline Day for Premier League clubs, but the same can’t be said for Turkish side Elazigspor.
The second division outfit had been placed under a transfer embargo but managed to negotiate it with the Turkish FA, leading to them going on a mad spree of signing and registering a load of players despite not even having a permanent manager in place.
In just two hours, they managed to snap up a record 22 players – 12 coming in on permanent contracts and a further 10 joining on loan deals until the end of the season.
They literally brought in a whole new squad of players in the same amount of time it takes to play a 90 minute game of football with extra time.
With no time to make creative signing announcements, Elazigspor kept it simple on social media with their unveilings.
Selcuk Ozturk, former president at the club, was delighted with the amount of business the club were able to get done and thankful for the hard work that went into achieve the squad overhaul.
“I’d like to thank everybody at the club who helped with this endeavour,” he told reporters, as per ESPN.
“We were simultaneously in talks with the FA regarding the transfer ban and with the players we wanted to bring in.
“Once the ban was lifted, we managed to contact the players and complete the transfers within two hours.”
We look forward to their appearance in the next Guinness book of records…
