The inferno broke out at Redfern Road this morning and is being tacked by 13 fire crews. Firefighters are using two hydraulic platforms and a high volume pumping unit to tackle the blaze.
A West Midlands Fire Service spokeswomen said: “We are just attending a large fire in Redfern Road, Tyseley.
“We have requested ten appliances. The first call was at 8.03am.”
One eyewitness reported hearing “explosions” from the facility.
Speaking to Birmingham Live they said: “Wow, there’s a fire in Tyseley, it’s caught fire in one of the rubbish places.

“I heard a couple of explosions as well.
“As soon as I’ve seen it, it’s been extending for a while.”
A second eyewitness suggested the “booming” explosions were caused by gas canisters within the building.
Redfern Road and Wharfdale Road have been closed whilst emergency services deal with the incident.

“Made possible through using a blend of firefighting capability.
“Firefighters, Hydraulic Platforms and Drone footage which has allowed us to surround and target the seats of fire within the property.”
Officers from West Midlands Police are also on the scene.
Addressing Birmingham Live a spokeswomen for the force said: “We were called at 8.30pm.

“We will be in attendance for road closures only.”
Acocks Green Police are urging the public to avoid the affected area.
They tweeted: “Roads are closed in the area so please avoid Wharfedale road and Redfern Road.”
London: Firefighters tackle New Providence Wharf blaze
Video from earlier this morning, before the blaze was being contained, shows a huge plume of smoke that could be seen from some distance.
One Chelmsley Wood resident, who lives six miles away, was able to picture the rising smoke.
An investigation is underway to determine what caused the fire.
