The M60 anti-clockwise has reopened after police dealt with what was described as a “serious incident”.
At 2.35am roads and traffic monitoring service Inrix said: “M60 anti-clockwise reopened, police incident over from J17 A56 Bury New Road (Prestwich/Whitefield) to J15 M61 J1 (Swinton Interchange).”
At 2.38am Highways England tweeted: “M60 anticlockwise J17 (Manchester Prestwich Whitefield A56) to J15 (WorsleyBraided M61) incident has been resolved and traffic released.
“Thank you for your patience.”
It reported at 12.30am that one lane had been closed from junction 17 for the A56 (Prestwich) to junction 15 for the M61 junction 1.
Greater Manchester Police officers and the North West Ambulance Service were said to be on on the scene.
At around 12.50am, North West Motorway police tweeted: “Police dealing with a serious incident on M60 anticlockwise between j17 and j16 – Highways assisting in closing main c’way and on slip at j17 anticlockwise”
Highways England later tweeted at 1am that the M60 anti-clockwise J17 to J15 was closed due to an incident.
It said delays were likely on the approach to the closure.
Traffic was diverted to leave the M60 at J17 and rejoin at J15.
