Motorcyclist fighting for life in hospital after crash in Wythenshawe

A motorcyclist is fighting for his life in hospital after a crash in Wythenshawe.

Emergency services were called to Portway at around 1pm today to reports of a collision between a car and a motorbike.

The driver of the motorbike, a 36-year-old man, has been taken to hospital with serious injuries, police said.

He remains in a critical condition.

No arrests have been made and it is understood the car stopped at the scene.

Portway is currently closed between Plowden Road and Cranham Road whilst officers carry out their investigations.

Pictures from the scene show a number of police cars stationed around the cordon.

A silver Fiat 500 can be seen parked inside the cordon.

The motorbike, which has been badly damaged in the crash, can be seen on the pavement nearby.

A spokesperson for GMP said: At around 1pm today (Sunday 23 May 2021), police were called to reports of a collision between a car and a motorcycle on Portway, Wythenshawe.

“Emergency services attended and the motorcycle driver – a 36-year-old man- was taken to hospital with serious injuries where he remains in a critical condition.

“No arrests have been made and Portway is currently closed between Plowden Road and Cranham Road whilst enquiries remain ongoing.”
