The NHS has confirmed three more patients have died in hospitals in Greater Manchester after testing positive for coronavirus.

There was one death recorded at Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.

One further fatality was recorded at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, and another at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust.

In total, there were four deaths recorded across the north west in the latest data released by NHS England today (April 15).

Every day the NHS gives an update on virus-related deaths recorded by hospital trusts in England in the previous 24 hour period.

These are cases where someone has died within 28 days of a positive test or where Covid-19 is mentioned on their death certificate.

Thursday’s figures bring the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 86,632.

The number of people who have died in Greater Manchester hospitals since the start of the pandemic stands at 5,865.

On Wednesday (April 14),there were four deaths recorded in Greater Manchester, three at Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and one at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

  • Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust – 8

  • Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust – 500

  • Stockport NHS Foundation Trust – 556

  • Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust – 582
