Villa's Spending This Summer To Top £100 Million With Signing Of Luiz
Aston Villa’s spending this summer is set to reach a massive £100 million as they close in on signing Douglas Luiz from Manchester City.
Villa have splashed the cash since returning to the Premier League after last season’s play-off triumph by signing SEVEN players so far.
And the club are on the verge of securing their eighth signing of the transfer window.
Villa are poised to complete a £15 million signing of Luiz from City.
The Midlands outfit have agreed a fee with the Premier League champions as Dean Smith continues to reinforce his team ahead of the new season.
Luiz, 23, has enjoyed two seasons on loan at Girona. He played a combined 28 La Liga games during his spell in Spain.
But the Brazilian midfielder is set to ply his trade in England after agreeing to join Villa.
Once his move is confirmed, Villa will account for 17% of all the money spent on players by Premier League clubs this summer so far.
Villa have already smashed their club record transfer this summer. They snapped up striker Wesley Moraes for £22 million.
They also spent £20 million to acquire Tyrone Mings on a permanent deal following his successful loan stint last season.
The club have drafted in Matt Targett for £17 million and Ezri Konsa for £12 million, too.
Not to mention Anwar El Ghazi, Jota and Kortney Hause for a combined £15 million.
What’s more, the claret and blues are expected to complete a deal for Reims defender Bjorn Engels. Villa mean business. Quite literally.
How will Smith’s side fare in England’s top flight next season? Let us know.
