It appears Spurs were priced out of a deal to sign Chelsea‘s Michy Batshuayi on loan.

Michy Batshuayi was made available by his parent club after terminating his loan contract at Valencia, where he only bagged one La Liga goal.

Despite his form in front of goal, a few clubs were interested in snapping up his services until the end of the season.

West Ham and Real Betis reportedly expressed a desire to bring him in. Not to mention Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs.

With Harry Kane sidelined, Mauricio Pochettino was keen on drafting in a striker. Targetting the Belgium international.

However, Chelsea pretty much refused his loan to Spurs by massively pricing their rivals out of a potential deal.

According to Mirror, Chelsea demanded a hefty £8 million loan fee from Spurs in order to sign Batshuayi.

That’s FOUR times what they wanted from West Ham and Real Betis.

It’s believed Batshuayi wanted to move across London and join Spurs. Though, naturally, with the clubs rivalry a transfer wasn’t sanctioned.

The 25-year-old eventually sealed a move on deadline day by switching to Crystal Palace on loan for the rest of the campaign.

Palace chairman Steve Parish is delighted with his late piece of business.

“This is a fantastic signing for Crystal Palace,” he said. “Michy is a player we’ve long admired, and I’m delighted that we’ve finally managed to get him in a red and blue shirt. He will be a magnificent addition to our squad.”

Palace are currently hovering above the relegation spots, so they’ll be hoping ‘Batsman’ can bag some goals.
