Wolverhampton Wanderers have proven this past season that they have what it takes to challenge for the top six next season. Their performances under Nuno Espirito Santo have caught the eye and many are tipping them to challenge the big boys at the top of the division next season.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Can Make a Top Six Challenge

A Stellar First Season in the Top Flight

Wolves’ return to Premier League football was one to remember for fans at the Molineux.

After six years of competing in the Championship and League One, they certainly made their presence felt this season.

Espirito Santo’s charges finished in seventh place and made life difficult for the top six clubs throughout the campaign.

Wins at home over the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United were backed up by a victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.

At the same time, Wolves also managed to pick up points at the Emirates, Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge.

Players Rising to the Occasion

Santo’s players proved they are more than capable of handling the pressure of such a difficult competition.

The likes of Ruben Neves, Ryan Bennett, Diogo Jota and Raul Jimenez immediately stamped their authority on the league.

Brilliant interplay and some scintillating attacking displays caused the other teams a lot of trouble.

While, at the same time, Wolves’ defence was very solid in absorbing the pressure.

Challenge For the Top Six Next Season

Wolves will now be hoping to go a step further and really pose a challenge of becoming a top-six club.

Consistency will, however, be key if they were to achieve that fate.

One or two additions in the summer could put them in a position to take their game to the next level.

Clubs like Arsenal and Manchester United will certainly be wary of that threat.

They will also be striving for a more consistent season but if they continue to under-perform then Wolves could overtake them.

Wolves fans, though, will be optimistic about next season and will feel from what they’ve seen recently that their team could really achieve new heights.
