Crystal Palace Have Named A Price For Any Club Looking To Sign Zaha
Wilfried Zaha’s exit from Crystal Palace would not come cheap after it has been reported that the club would only sanction the sale if their price tag were met.
According to the Daily Telegraph, the 26-year-old Ivorian told the club that he wanted to leave Selhurst Park in the summer and that he wants to ‘play for a Champions League club.’
Well, the Eagles would demand at least £80m from any Champions League-qualifying club for Zaha, but they could be willing to drop to £60m to £65m.
However, the newspaper has said that the ideal scenario for the Premier League club would be to secure at least £100m for the Ivory Coast international, who has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund.
The Red Devils have also been linked with Dortmund star Jadon Sancho, and should a deal move ahead for him, they would have the funds necessary to sign Zaha.
Of course, Palace have a strong hand in any negotiations after their star player signed a new deal in 2018, which keeps him at the club until 2023.
Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson recently admitted that it was important for the club to keep hold of Zaha and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has been linked with United.
“I’ve answered that question [whether Palace can retain their star players] so many times,” he told a press conference (via Goal).
“There’s nobody at the club who is anxious to see any of those players leave the club, in fact it’s the reverse. We’ve committed them to long-term contracts.
“[Michy] Batshuayi is a different case because he’s on loan. But [Zaha and Wan-Bissaka] are committed to us on long-term contracts and we believe they have an important part to play here.
“We shouldn’t forget, yes there is a top six up there, but if you take the other teams we are not light years away.
“Last year, we missed out on 10th place on goal difference, this year we’ve missed ninth place by one point.
“I think we can offer, as a football club, a team which is competitive, isn’t miles away from the top half of the table and a team that plays good football and can get results.”
