Frenkie de Jong's Individual Highlights Against Real Madrid
It is believed that during contract negotiations with Barcelona, the club asked Frenkie de Jong to try and knock out rivals Real Madrid in the Champions League knockout stages and boy, did he do just that.
de Jong, who will join the Catalan giants on a five-year deal in the summer, is already living up to his hefty €75 million price-tag following a breathtaking performance against Los Blancos on Wednesday night.
I mean, the 21-year-old has proven time and time again this season that Barcelona were right to splash the cash.
But these individual highlights show just how much of a talent they have found in de Jong.
His fearless style of play, combined with his capability to defend and attack, gave the likes of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos nightmares in the middle of midfield.
On a number of occasions, de Jong broke the lines with dribbles from deep, and casually flicked the ball past Modric – a Ballon d’Or winner and World Cup finalist – on a number of occasions with relative ease, making the Croatian look distinctly average.
The 21-year-old showcased his immense talents on the world’s biggest stage and plenty picked up on his efforts last night.
One thing is for sure, this won’t be the last time Frenkie de Jong gives the world a masterclass at the Bernabeu.
