The Two Clubs That Are Hakim Ziyech's 'Ultimate Dream' To Play For

Hakim Ziyech will no doubt have a number of clubs keen on him acquiring him this summer and the man himself might just get his dream move as a result.

That’s because a 2017 interview involving the Moroccan has re-emerged and sees him state his desire to play for Arsenal.

Asked by then teammate Justin Kluivert who would he like to play for in the future as part of a chat for Ajax TV, Ziyech replied: “Well, I have two clubs. They are Arsenal and Barcelona. That is my ultimate dream.”

Then when quizzed on whether he has a football idol he looks up to, Ziyech picked out Arsenal‘s No.10. “Yes, I actually do have one. [Mesut] Ozil,” he answered before stating he is “not even close” to Ozil’s level.

Ziyech has just completed a wonderful season for Ajax, scoring 21 goals and chipping in with 24 assists for Erik ten Hag’s side in all competitions as they completed a domestic double and reached the Champions League semi-finals.

A series of stunning performances has prompted interest from the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Bayern Munich – with the latter already believed to have reached out to the 26-year old’s representatives.

And Ajax director of football Marc Overmars has confirmed that Ziyech will be allowed to leave the club this summer.

“He leaves when a top club comes,” Overmars said.

“He is in focus because of his achievements in the Champions League. Many big clubs are buzzing around him. We promised Hakim [that we would] agree to a good transfer.”

It has been reported, namely by The Mirror, that the former FC Twente man has a release clause of £25 million – which would prove incredible value for any top European outfit.

Signed for just €11 million euros in 2016, Ziyech has gone on to contribute to over 100 goals in his time at Ajax, winning the club’s Player of the Year award in consecutive years.
